Fourth shoot write up
Ennerdale Water
Cow green reservoir

Kentmere Reservoir
In terms of number of locations visited it’s been a very
successful days shooting, as-well as one of the strangest in terms of weather.
I first went to Cow Green reservoir in the morning and as you can see it was
pretty horrible, however with the very few photos I could physically take, I
managed to get some breaks in the weather. I wanted to walk around to the dam
which is to the left of the panoramic however the snow was coming sideways and a
foot and a half deep in places and it would have been a stupid thing to do with
my knees being the way they are. The second place I went to was Ennerdale Water
which I remembered from my book project where I completed a variation of the
coast to coast walk. This second location was much better because A. there was
no sideways snow, B. I could keep the camera still. I really enjoyed
photographing Ennerdale as the textures in the clouds were great for
photography and the walk around the reservoir was challenging but good for my
knee. Again I experimented with stitching. I think using this technique to try
and create a landscape format image is much harder than the portrait
alternative however I was able to successfully get two images that I thought
were at a par with my other better images from previous shoots. Lastly I when
to Kentmere reservoir which was a bit rushed as it was getting dark and the
forecast predicted snow in the area around 6 so I didn’t want to walk the 2 and
a bit miles back to my car in the snow. At the time I thought that I would end
up redoing Kentmere, but looking at the images from Cow Green Reservoir and Kielder
I think I’m covered on the subject of reservoirs so I should be able to move on
to something different the next time I go out shooting.
