Book research 'Altered Landscape'

Just read through the book ‘Altered Landscape’ and as you could probably guest  it suited perfectly for the type of work I’ve been doing in my major project, and from reading the foreword and other selections of text within the book, it would have also been a great source of information for my dissertation. The images within this book are very inspiring and make me want to adjust the approach I take when I create my work. The vast majority of the images in here portray their message in a very subtle way, making their effect on you all the more potent, whereas my images are quite obvious in some respects because you can tell immediately that its linked to political/ environmental issues. One of the main things I’ve learnt from my dissertation is that allowing the spectator to come to their own conclusion is key to making a strong image, so from now on I’m going to have to try and be cleverer in the way I composes my pictures, but not stray too far from the style I’ve been using so far because I need all my images to be relatable in terms of aesthetic.

The following images are some of my favourites from the book and probably the closest ones that resemble my work. However there are many other great images within the book that are simple yet effective.  With the benefit of hindsight I could  have taken the same approach as it would allowed me complete freedom to choose any location no matter the conditions, making it a much more personal project.
