First shoot write up.
In my opinion these top three images are the best that I’ve
produced from this trip, and the colour variants are much better than the black
and whites equivalents that I initially decided to produce.
My starting point for these images was Drone Hill, which is
just beyond the Scottish border. From there I spiralled out trying to visit as
many wind farms as possible. I chose this area purely for the concentration of
turbines and road access. Unfortunately because I visited a lot of turbines
that day I’m not actually sure which particular farms I’ve photographed, though
it will be within a 45minute radius of Drone Hill.
I think the switch to a digital format was a good move
because after I got back from my first attempted shoot with all my film gear my
leg was in a lot of pain from the extra weight. When I went shooting digital
all I needed was the camera, and my tripod if it were to start getting dark.
It’s becoming clear that getting to good places with height
is going to be an issue in this project. In Scotland it’s obviously not hard to
get to a place with height but getting a good composition at height is. So over
the coming photoshoots I will have to evaluate whether its worthwhile factoring
in this aspect when I chose locations to photograph.
