Ferry bridge power station
Drax power station.
Today I visited a couple of power stations, Drax and Ferry Bridge
power stations which are both situated in West Yorkshire. Ferry Bridge’s 3
stations create a combined total of around 2,460 Mw of power and Drax produces
a total of 4000Mw which is 7% of the UK’s electricity demand. I didn’t have a
great deal of time today as I had to go to work at 3pm, however I didn’t want
to waste the nice day. This meant I didn’t manage to take a lot of photos
because of the time constraint and the ones that I did take weren’t great. I
only managed to produce 6 Photos and the 2 that I thought that could
potentially be used as finals are shown above. It’s difficult to judge the
success of today’s shoot because I quite like the above images, and I think
they both have potential to be used, but I don’t have a diverse range of images
to choose from in the power station section of my work.
I could try and shoot another set of power stations, however
starting next week I’m committing my time to professional practice. Once that’s
completed I will only have 4 weeks to photograph the remaining section of the
brief which are, mines, housing estates and the effects of fracking, then there
the various write ups and evaluations to go along with is. I will have to give
this some further thought later on.
